Yesterday (Tuesday) was not a good day, and as Monday was a Bank Holiday which I spent with my parents, no post ended up being written yesterday – sorry. It didn’t occur to me until it was too late (which was today) that I probably should have scheduled it. Instead I’m doing my second WoW of 2013. This is a book I am really looking forward to, and have ever since I heard that the author was expanding their short story into a whole book.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown
by Holly Black
Published: 3rd September 2013
Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.
One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself.
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown is a wholly original story of rage and revenge, of guilt and horror, and of love and loathing from bestselling and acclaimed author Holly Black.
I thought this was a really neat concept when I read the short story, so I cannot wait to see how it has been translated into a whole book.
So that is the book I am looking forward to this week. Please let me know in the comments if you’re looking forward to it too, and what book you’re looking for to this week.
Oh, I didn’t realize this book started out as a short story! I’m eager to read Coldest Girl too. Great pick, and not too much longer to wait. Yay!
