ROCK ADDICTION is the first novel in Nalini Singh’s new sizzling contemporary romance series ROCK KISS. The story follows Molly Webster, a New Zealand native and librarian with a past, as her path crosses Zachary Fox’s – leader singer for the rock band Schoolboy Choir. What starts as a one-night stand somehow stretches into a month long fling.

I’m going to start this review by saying that ROCK ADDICTION is one heck of a book! It’s a hot and steamy read, but the characters and their relationship unfolding on the page seems very real. This is without a doubt one of the best and most sizzling contemporary romances I have read. Although there’s not much in terms of a plot to this book, something which is normally a MUST for me, Singh tells a fantabulous love story. It has (almost) everything I want when I read a New Adult book, and although a plot of some sort would have been nice (other than wondering if Molly and Fox would get together) I wasn’t at all disappointed when I reached the final page – in fact, more would have been nice.

As a fan of Nalini Singh’s GUILD HUNTER series as well as her PSY-CHANGELING series, I was curious to see how she would adapt moving from the paranormal romance genre to the contemporary romance genre. I think she managed it with flare, and I found this book just as enjoyable and as engrossing a read as any of the books in her other series. If you have had the chance to read anything by Singh before and you enjoyed it, and now you want to try some contemporary romance then I highly recommend that you give this book and series a try. If, on the other hand, you’re a contemporary romance fan and haven’t read anything by Singh yet then I urge you to consider this book and series because it is a really enjoyable read.

As I’ve mentioned a couple of times, there really isn’t a lot in the way of plot to this book but Singh makes up for that with some really interesting characters. The story is split into two parts, and although most of the book is told from Molly’s point of view we do also get Fox’s point of view which I think really worked to allow us as readers a better understanding of their chemistry. Singh did a good job in revealing both Molly and Fox’s backstories in a believable way. There were also some hints of backstories of other characters which, Singh may choose to explore in other books in the series that I think have some potential. The next book in the series, a novella, ROCK COURTSHIP is out now in ebook form – and there’s an excerpt at the back of ROCK ADDICTION from the novella, as well as a few hints in the story if you read between the lines – and I’m really looking forward to starting it.
