Waiting on Wednesday (3)

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

This week I’m going to have a couple of books, all have been published already, but because I’m taking part in Black March I’ve got to wait until April to get them so I thought they’d count.

Meet Josephine Foster, or Zo Jo as she’s called in the biz. The best pint-sized photographer of them all, Jo doesn’t mind doing what it takes to get that perfect shot, until she’s sent on an undercover assignment to shoot Ned Hartnett—teen superstar and the only celebrity who’s ever been kind to her—at an exclusive rehabilitation retreat in Boston. The money will be enough to pay for Jo’s dream: real photography classes, and maybe even quitting her paparazzi gig for good. Everyone wants to know what Ned’s in for. But Jo certainly doesn’t know what she’s in for: falling in love with Ned was never supposed to be part of her assignment.

I’ve seen a couple of reviews for this, and I thought it sounded interesting. Once I read the blurb I knew I had to read this. I’m really looking forward to reading this and it will definitely be one of the books I buy in April.

Dangerous promises and beguiling threats swirl together in a dozen stories of enchantments dark and light by New York Times bestselling author Melissa Marr. Uncanny and unexpected creatures appear from behind bushes, rise from beneath the seas, or manifest from seasonal storms to pursue the objects of their attention—with amorous or sinister intent—relentlessly.

Saw this on Melissa Marr’s website and as I liked her Wicked Lovely series and her book Graveminder I thought I’d give this one a go. I also enjoy reading short story collections by authors whose series I’ve liked reading.

Willa’s secret plan seems all too simple: take from the rich kids at Valley Prep and give to the poor ones.

Yet Willa’s turn as Robin Hood at her ultra-exclusive high school is anything but. Bilking her “friends”-known to everyone as the Glitterati-without them suspecting a thing, is far from easy. Learning how to pick pockets and break into lockers is as difficult as she’d thought it’d be. Delivering care packages to the scholarship girls, who are ostracized just for being from the “wrong” side of town, is way more fun than she’d expected.

The complication Willa didn’t expect, though, is Aidan Murphy, Valley Prep’s most notorious (and gorgeous) ace-degenerate. His mere existence is distracting Willa from what matters most to her-evening the social playing field between the have and have-nots. There’s no time for crushes and flirting with boys, especially conceited and obnoxious trust-funders like Aidan.

But when the cops start investigating the string of burglaries at Valley Prep and the Glitterati begin to seek revenge, could he wind up being the person that Willa trusts most?

I will admit that this is a little down to cover love – it looks amazing! But, I also like the premise that Willa is a Robin Hood figure. Can’t wait to read.

What are you looking forward to getting your hands on this week?

  1. “Faery Tales and Nightmares” sounds really good. I wasn’t a fan of “Wicked Lovely” but this seems to be darker and weirder, so I think I’ll have a look at it. Thanks for sharing!
