THE THRILLING FINAL INSTALMENT IN THE BLOOD OF EDEN TRILOGY
Rating: **** (4 stars)
THE FOREVER SONG brings Julie Kagawa’s magnificent BLOOD OF EDEN trilogy to its conclusion. After the events of THE ETERNITY CURE Allie is determined to destroy Sarren and avenge Zeke. Allie’s journey to reach Sarren is not an easy one.
Reviewing the final book in a series is difficult, especially when you don’t want to risk spoilers for those who haven’t got around to reading it yet – so, sorry in advance if I accidentally include any. THE FOREVER SONG is an absorbing read; right from the start of the book I wanted to read it to its conclusion, and every time I put the book down I ended up picking it up again and reading another chapter. Kagawa brings all the threads together from the previous books in the BLOOD OF EDEN trilogy into a cohesive conclusion: having finished the book I’m not left with any questions.
In a lot of ways Allie regresses in THE FOREVER SONG, she has spent the previous two books trying to desperately cling onto her humanity. In this book, she chooses to let the monster rule her. Despite this, I found her to be a very likeable character – she still perceives, and is determined to reach her goal: the destruction of Sarren. As such the plot of the book seems to be pretty simple; it follows Allie’s journey to Sarren. However, Kagawa provides lots of interesting twists to the journey that just keeps you turning the pages so you can see how things end up.
THE FOREVER SONG is an enjoyable conclusion to the BLOOD OF EDEN. If you have enjoyed the trilogy so far, then I think you will enjoy this book.
