ICYMI Sunday 7 – The one where I bent the ban

>

ICYMI (In Case You Missed It) Sunday is a new meme that I am planning to feature on the blog every week. It is based on the Sunday Post  which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer, which was in turn inspired in part by the In My Mailbox meme. Basically, it allows me to let you know what went on the blog this week and anything interesting that is going on. It will also allow me to showcase any books I receive like the Showcase Sunday which is hosted by Vicky at Books, Biscuits, and Tea.

This week has been a relatively quiet one. I decided I’m going to attend The London Book Fair on the Wednesday – so keep an eye out for pics on my Twitter and Facebook – and booked tickets, which turned out to be more complicated than it should be… I’m going to be at a family meal later today, so it may take me a while to respond to your comments.

On the blog this week:

  • 4 star review of STOLEN SONGBIRD by Danielle L. Jensen

What else is going on? Not a lot, but hopefully something will be of interest.

  • Fancy some “warm fuzzies”? Then check out Jen Campbell author of WEIRD THINGS CUSTOMERS SAY IN BOOKSHOPS list of things children say in bookshops here.
  • #BOOKNERDIGANS website is up and running, you can check it out here.
  • Project UKYA’s April Extravaganza has kicked-off. It started on April 1st – apparently, it was no joke. You can find out more and check out some fab posts here.
  • Julie Kagawa talks about what NOT to do if you want a favour from your favourite author here.
  • The cover for THE GUILD OF ASSASSINS by Anna Kashina (the second book in the MAJAT CODE series) is revealed on the Angry Robot Books website along with an exclusive guest postyou can find more here.

The list of things ‘children say in bookshops’ was an interesting read. It was fun to see how some kids saw the world. Project UKYA’s April Extravaganza looks like a lot of fun. I was sad to hear about how a fan treated Julie Kagawa after asking a favour.

And, oh yes, this week I have a couple of picture books for you to gander at.

  • BIG BEAR LITTLE BROTHER by Carl Norac, Illustrated by Kristin Oftedal
  • BOOT & SHOE by Marla Frazee

I saw them in The Works and had to buy them because they looked so goregous. It only cost me £1.99 for both books which I thought was a nice bonus.

I would love to hear what you’ve been up to this week and what books, if any, you’ve got so please leave me a link in the comments below.

Thanks for stopping by :D

  1. Don’t even get me started on the London Book Fair grrrrr. I registered to attend in January, and when I hadn’t heard anything by last week they told me they never received my registration. Despite sending me an acknowledgement in January. But no, nothing they can do, I’m not registered and no, they can’t help me. Sorry, rant over 🙂
Have a great week and Happy Reading.
